"Birds of a Feather" Play Together

Emmy Hergenreter and Sarah Bullett are two of the 22 students in the "Birds of a Feather Club" sponsored by Ms. Jayne Enerson, a staff member at Berthoud Elementary. In this club, each student creates and decorates their own little bird from rocks and feathers. The school staff has been sponsoring after-school clubs for their students for decades. Staff members choose a topic they think would interest the students and then create a one-hour session that meets between one to seven times weekly between January and March. These after-school clubs offer a chance to bond outside of school routines and schedules, while also creating or learning something new and exciting. They are free to students and available to all grade levels, thanks to grants the school received from Wal-Mart and the Berthoud Schools Fund.
