Instructional Support and Technology Services Department

Who or What is IS/TS?

IS/TS is an abbreviation for the Instructional Support and Technology Services Department. We're the folks employed by the district that install, maintain, and upgrade Thompson's technology devices and infrastructure. So, when the inevitable happens and a technology system in your school decides to misbehave, we're the folks to call!

Help Desk Technicians: The IS/TS Help Desk is available at x5156 from 6:30am thru 4:30pm every day that students attend school. They're a great first call if technology is giving you a hard time. Help Desk Technicians are skilled diagnosticians with access to the latest tools and resources to handle most network and software failure problems over the phone in a matter of minutes. If they can't fix your issue with their remote networking tools, or help you fix it yourself, they'll make sure the problem is documented and routed to the appropriate expert to be handled ASAP.

Technologist I's: Every school has a technologist assigned to assure that when technology fails help is only minutes away. Technologist I's are trained and cross-trained regionally so that even if your assigned technologist is unavailable, another well trained individual is only a few extra minutes away. Technologist I's are housed at Elementary and Middle Schools and can be located directly or through the IS/TS Help Desk.

Technologist II's: High Schools are assigned a Technologist II in place of a Technologist I. Technologist II's are our most knowledgeable and experienced Technologists with the added skills required to manage the technology needs of High Schools and the regional team.

Computers, Peripherals, Clocks, Intercoms, and Telecom Technicians: Also from 6:30am through 4:30pm, IS/TS employs certified technicians to handle both warranty and non-warranty repairs in-house, saving the district down-time and dollars.

Sound, Video, and Security Systems Engineer: IS/TS employs an engineer designated to handle problems with all sound and video systems, such as auditorium sound systems, SAFARI video systems, and video surveillance.

Network and Telecommunication Engineers: Four highly skilled engineers are on staff to fix high level system problems as well as help design and maintain Thompson's data and voice network infrastructure.
